GENERAL SUMMARY:

This position is located at several of our branch locations, Brea, El Segundo, Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach & Tustin.

The Financial Advisor is responsible for meeting and consulting with members to assess their financial planning needs by reviewing their financial information, developing financial goals, and creating financial plans to assist members in meeting their goals. Provides members with advice and services regarding their personal financial planning and investment needs.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:

The Financial Advisor works with a minimal amount of supervision and direction and is authorized to take reasonable actions necessary to carry out the assigned responsibilities of the position, provided that such action is consistent with cost-effective practices and is consistent with the policy and procedures of Kinecta Federal Credit Union.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Financial Advisor has no direct supervisory responsibilities but will be expected to take the lead on assigned projects and may oversee the work of others working on assigned projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Meets with members, clients, and prospects. Collects and analyzes information regarding members' income, assets, investments, and debts.
  • Determines financial goals with members. Ascertains which financial products best meet the members' needs and financial circumstances to help achieve those goals. After careful consideration, advises members regarding the advantages and disadvantages of different financial products, including insurance and investment products.
  • Through the approved product list of our broker dealer, offer non-deposit investment accounts to members of the Credit Union.
  • Promotes, supports, and develops a member experience that corresponds with the Organization's objectives.
  • Works with Front Line (branches, Contact Center) and other lines of business to increase member penetration for Kinecta Wealth Management. Work with Branch Partners to help them achieve their goals.
  • Develop reports on various analyses on investment products; retirement needs analysis, current situation analysis, and asset accumulation analysis.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs other duties including special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of investments, mutual funds, stocks, and all associated products.
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations governing the sale of non-deposit investment products within the Credit Union.
  • Must have excellent communication and customer service to effectively interact with all members and different levels of management.
  • Must have strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to establish priorities and meet tight deadlines to process applications in a timely manner and follow-up on members' needs.
  • Ability to keep up with up-to-date information pertaining to investment account types, products, and services.
  • Ability to make good decision and judgment to ensure the highest level of standards and guidelines of Kinecta Wealth Management are maintained.
  • Ability to read and comprehend agency, department and vendor policies and procedures, standards, and guidelines

Education, Training and Experience:

Potential candidates for this position must meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field preferred.
  • FINRA Series 7, 63, 65 or 7, 66 licenses.
  • State Life and Health insurance license.
  • Three years related experience in financial sales position.
  • Experience offering securities products (non-deposit investment products) in a financial institution.
  • Membership in financial planning.

One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
  • The job may require flexibility with regards to scheduling days, hours, and work location, depending on business needs.
  • The job is typically sedentary but may require standing and walking up to 35% of the work time to transfer files, ask questions, and related activities.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES, MENTAL DEMANDS, AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to exercise sound judgment, effectively plan and be well organized, have excellent oral and written communications skills, work well under changing timelines, take the initiative and be flexible and cooperative. Accuracy, timeliness and maintaining confidentiality related to member, employee information and company records is required.

While performing the job duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit; talk or hear in person and by telephone; use hands to operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; lift minimum 10 lbs.

The employee is frequently required to walk and stand. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus to read and operate office equipment, as necessary. The employee works under typical office conditions and noise levels.
