Primary Purpose

Performs routine and complex Neurodiagnostic procedures for patients as directed, providing physicians diagnostic tools with which to treat patients

Minimum Specifications

Education

- Must have a High School diploma or GED. Eligibility Pathways, and ENDT (Electroneurodiagnostic Technology)

Experience

- Minimum one (1) year experience

Equivalent Education and/or Experience

-None

Certification/Registration/Licensure

- Must have a current healthcare provider BLS for Healthcare Providers certification before date of hire and/or placement in job from one of the following:

  • American Heart Association
  • American Red Cross
  • Military Training Network

Current incumbents in the role as of 8/1/2023 must obtain a health care provider BLS for Healthcare Providers certification no later than 11/31/2023.

Required Tests for Placement Skills or Special Abilities

- Must be able to perform routine EEG procedures independently.

- Must be able to distinguish EEG abnormalities and respond appropriately.

- Must be able to learn advanced EEG procedures.

- Must be able to work with personal computers including word processing, spreadsheets and databases.

- Must have good communication skills necessary in handling difficult and severely ill patients.

- Must be able to effectively handle stressful situations.

- Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.

Responsibilities

1. Responsible for the performance of routine Neurodiagnostic procedures for use by physicians as a diagnostic tool. May perform complex Neurodiagnostic procedures as skills advance.

2. Maintains electrodes, reviews and edits patient data to provide interpretable results. Completes all paperwork.

3. Maintains a positive working relationship with other employees, physicians, patients and family members.

4. Responsible for stocking supplies and preparing test areas. Maintains and troubleshoots equipment as skills advance in order to ensure effective operations.

5. Follows established infection control guidelines.
