About Us:

Job Functions: The role of the Community Care Chaplain is to provide Metropolitan Ministries clients, staff, volunteers, and community utilizing a trauma-informed model of spiritual care. This position requires competence to perform spiritual care functions as needed to support the spiritual and emotional health and wellbeing of those served. This position will help the Spiritual Care department maintain a web of support and connection for clients in Metropolitan Ministries' expanding residential and community programs, as well as supporting staff throughout all departments and programs. Education and Experience:
Skill Requirements: Must be able to communicate effectively in English; additional language (Spanish, Kreyol, ASL) skills highly preferred. Ability to recognize and support various pastoral/spiritual care issues. Must be dependable, demonstrate maturity and sensitivity to issues of faith, culture, and other sources of diversity, ability to organize work and attend to detail, and ability to handle job-related matters in a professional and diplomatic manner. Customer service, effective communication, and a positive, helpful attitude are necessary. Dedication to confidentiality and understanding of legal parameters required. Physical Requirements: Hearing and speaking ability which allows for effective oral communication of information; physical, emotional and spiritual stamina to handle job-related issues and stress. Other: Demonstrates a passion for the mission and vision of Metropolitan Ministries. Position requires 40 hours per week. Some evening and weekend availability necessary. Must demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States. Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Must pass required background pre-employment screening.
