DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of buildings, grounds, machinery, and equipment. This work is performed in the electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting, and masonry trades. Some of your duties will include rough and finish carpentry; preparing and painting interior and exterior surfaces; and installing and repairing various fixtures, including sinks and faucets. You will also install and replace electrical panels, circuits, and lighting fixtures; repair air conditioning and heating equipment; remove snow; and repair concrete and masonry. Your duties will require you to operate and maintain both manual and power tools of the trade on a regular basis.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment (7.50-hour work day; 37.50-hour work week)
  • Work hours are 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. You will be required to work weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1; or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Experience in industrial carpentry
  • Experience in electrical and plumbing trades
  • Experience in the in the maintenance and repair of refrigeration and/or HVAC systems
  • Experience in commercial maintenance of buildings and equipment
  • Experience working with 3-phase wiring to include emergency generators, Automatic Transfer Switches, switch gears and 3-phase panels
  • Experience working with domestic hot water mixing valves, recirculating loops, aqua stats, and instantaneous water heaters
  • Experience with the provisions of Life Safety Codes and Uniform Construction Code (UCC), as it relates to repairs of buildings
  • Structural experience in the maintenance or repair of buildings
  • Experience in the maintenance or repair of commercial buildings

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
