Staff Research Associate II CoLabs Admin Full Time 81373BR Job Summary The Staff Research Associate 2 (SRA 2) will perform, under supervision, state of the art molecular genetic approaches, including spatial transcriptomics, single cell transcriptomics and epigenomics methods. The successful candidate will join both the Genomics and D2B CoLab teams, where they will be responsible for the meticulous handling and processing of research and clinical samples The individual will work under general supervision and utilize problem solving skills to execute experimental methods. The SRA 2 use various protocols to generate next generation sequencing (NGS) libraries from DNA and RNA. They will closely interact with other laboratory members in the Genomics CoLab and collaborate extensively with Dr. Combes' group in the Disease to Biology (D2B) CoLab. The D2B CoLab is a collaborative research lab focusses on using single cell technologies to study immune cell networks. In the D2B CoLab a typical workflow involves processing tissue samples by digesting them into single cells, staining them for flow cytometry, and sorting them to generate cutting-edge single-cell multi-omics data. This approach enables precise dissection of the cellular composition and the transcriptomic and genomic signatures of the obtained tissue. Their duties will include both manual and automated preparation of cell digestion, flow cytometry analysis, RNA/DNA isolation, and the creation of sequencing libraries from model organisms and clinical samples. Additionally, they will be responsible for pre-processing and conducting basic analysis of sample preparation quality control results and next-generation sequencing data. The research associate will also aid in new and ongoing research projects involving other sample types and will perform other duties as assigned. Strong organization skills are required. The ideal candidate will have a familiarity with NGS technology and molecular genetics principles. The candidate will work under supervision on multiple projects utilizing project management skills to achieve expected results in specific timelines. This position represents an excellent opportunity to further basic laboratory and high-throughput molecular biology skills in a dynamic, well-established functional genomics research environment. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $28.04 - $45.09 (Hourly Rate). It seeks to revitalize the model for core resources by capitalizing on critical personnel and cutting-edge technologies and driving collaboration across disciplines. The model will house all CoLabs teams in a contiguous space and create a set of common pipelines and workflows in one centralized locale. It will recruit and retain world-class staff through project engagement, backstopped "tenure," and annual operational funds. It will develop and invest in transformative methods and technologies.
