STATUS: Part-Time

QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Must have valid New Mexico driver's license with clean MVR
  • Ability to use diplomacy and good judgement
  • Must be organized and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to follow verbal/written instructions
  • A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible with changing job situations/priorities
  • An ability to work well with volunteers, community service workers and TSA partner agencies
  • Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality
  • Bilingual preferred


RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Pick up donated items from homes and businesses in and around Chaves County
  • Unload all donations collected at the Thrift Store warehouse and truck.
  • Determine the best possible route to minimize fuel and maximize the donations collected in a scheduled time.
  • Assist in the warehouse, including hauling scrap and trash to dump or recycle area
  • Call donors and inform them of their pick up, if running late or rescheduling if need be
  • Stay in contact with the Store Manager while out on pick ups
  • Assist sorters with their duties and pricing as requested by the Store Manager.
  • Assist with maintenance and stocking of the sales floor
  • Assist with keeping the facility clean and organized at all times
  • Be familiar with all aspects and procedures of thrift store warehouse operations
  • Be responsible for the maintenance of the truck daily, check tires, oil pressures, keep interior & exterior clean
  • Report all accidents involving equipment, personal injury or property damage immediately to direct supervisor
  • Treat all clients in a manner reflecting the mission of The Salvation Army
  • Perform other duties as may be deemed necessary for the efficient operation of the Thrift Store


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms on a continuous basis. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
