POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Clinical Director of Criminal Justice Diversion Programs, the Manager - BPD Co-Response Specialty Units will oversee and support the two recovery coaches employed through the Boston Police Co-Response team, including providing individual supervision and real-time consultation during program hours. In their role, the manager will work collaboratively with specialty units within the Boston Police Department, providing consultation and co-responding as needed, in addition to assisting with internal and external partner training development and facilitation. Collaboratively with the Program Director and Clinical Director, and through the utilization of program data and evaluation, the manager will assess for opportunities for program expansion and networking.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

Provide supervision and oversight to BPD Co-Response team Recovery Coaches

Provide support to Boston Police (BPD) Specialized Units, co-responding as needed and collaborating with Program Director (PD) when district responders are needed

As appropriate, assist BPD and BMC Research with external training and conference opportunities

In conjunction with BMC Research and Evaluation team, obtain and review programmatic outcomes data and serve as data liaison between Boston Medical Center (BMC) and BPD

Assist BPD partners in the development and facilitation of applicable trainings, including participating in BPD-led crisis intervention trainings, and law enforcement led co-response clinician trainings

Strengthen internal relationships with other BMC programs by providing education specific to the co-response model and in collaboration with Program Director (PD) seeking opportunities to cross-train

In collaboration with Clinical Director, attend networking opportunities and stakeholder meetings as assigned, to seek opportunities for program growth, and provide community education re: BPD Co-Response

Together with PD, CPD and BPD partners, continuously assess for changing program needs, areas for program development and long-term program growth

In conjunction with PD, develop, implement and coordinate a system for case management/follow-up services for individuals identified by BPD and outside agencies who are considered frequent utilizers of 911

In collaboration with CPD, liaise with BPD Operations leadership to identify and support potential development of additional BEST integration

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

Masters Degree in relevant field

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

None Required; LCSW/LICSW/LMHC eligible preferred

EXPERIENCE:

At least five years of relevant experience in mental health field, including at least two years supervisory experience, with experience in crisis response preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSA):


  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to be detail oriented in all notes and documentation
  • Experience collaborating with external agencies with the capacity to move seamlessly amongst multiple disciplines
  • Advanced knowledge of program development
  • Awareness of behavioral health systems and available resources for patient population
