The Clinical Research Unit (CRU) at Boston Medical Center is a new state of the art in hospital clinical research space which will serve as a Core for research projects across the hospital. The Clinic Coordinator for the Clinical Research Unit (CRU) will oversee the daily operations of the clinic. Works with the Pharmacy to ensure study/protocol related medications are ordered. Provides the clinical staff with daily schedules in preparation for participant visits and makes adjustments as needed. Serves as backup for the scheduling Coordinator. Is responsible for ordering lab and clinical supplies for the unit, works with facilities & operations to submit requests for repairs for the CRU and ensures that clinic is clean at all times. Works with management team on ad hoc projects as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Clinical Research Unit (CRU) at Boston Medical Center is a new state of the art in hospital clinical research space which will serve as a Core for research projects across the hospital. The Clinic Coordinator for the Clinical Research Unit (CRU) will oversee the daily operations of the clinic.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administrative


  • Provides general administrative support
  • Creating and sharing the daily schedules and making updates and changes as needed
  • Responsible for Quality Data entry and maintaining research records in CRU systems
  • Maintains and updates the contact list for all protocols active in the Campus
  • Provides certifications and/or annual maintenance records upon request by study teams and creates SOP's

Clinical

  • Perform phlebotomy as needed

Operations


  • Opens the clinic and ensures that all clinical and interview rooms, waiting and dining area are clean.
  • Prepares room and supplies for study participant visits
  • Responsible for ensuring the CRU has the necessary study specific medical supplies to ensure compliance with individual study protocols
  • Responsible for biological sample handling
  • Collaborates with Environment services when clinic or non-clinic rooms require additional cleaning.

Team Collaboration

  • Supports back up of Office Manager and Lab Manager as needed

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:


  • Associate's degree in a related field (e.g., healthcare administration, life sciences) required.



CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:


  • Phlebotomy certification required

  • IATA/DOT shipping certification required within 60 days of hire


EXPERIENCE:


  • At least 2 years of Clinical Unit Coordinator experience required.

  • Experience in a research unit preferred.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:


  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).

  • Strong computer skills are essential (Excel /Access/Word /Outlook). Ability and willingness to become proficient in other computer applications.

  • Ability to take initiative, handle multiple priorities and tasks in a deadline driven environment.

  • Must be able to maintain accuracy and be detail oriented.

  • Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team
