Position overview Position title: Assistant Professor Salary range: The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. See Table1 for the salary history range. A reasonable estimate for this position is $105,000 - $150,000. "Off-scale salaries" and other components of pay, i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions. Position description The Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Santa Barbara, invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in Algebra, at the level of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025. All areas of algebra, in the broad sense, will be considered. We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated promise through novel research, and who have strong potential to interact with all colleagues, most notably those in the area of algebra. Responsibilities of faculty members generally include teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, recruitment, supervision, and mentorship of graduate students, participation in university service and professional activities, and the development of an actively funded research program of the highest quality. Department: http://math.ucsb.edu Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application) At a minimum, applicants must have completed all requirements for a PhD (or equivalent) except the dissertation (or equivalent) in mathematics or a related field at the time of application. Additional qualifications (required at time of start) Applicants must have a PhD degree or equivalent in mathematics or a related field by anticipated appointment start date (July 1, 2025). Preferred qualifications A demonstrated record of excellence in research, and a record of (or potential for) outstanding teaching are desired. Successful candidates will have a record of collaborative research, and will be able to leverage synergies within the Mathematics Department and Division.
