Job Description
Amcor is currently searching for individuals to join our Shelbyville - Liquids production plant! SHIFT AVAILABLE: Slitter Op: 2-2-3 12-hour Straight Days, 7:00-7:00! Press Op: 2-2-3 12-hour Straight Nights, 7:00-7:00! Every other weekend off! STARTING PAY: Slitter Operators - $19+/hour - Based on skillset and experience! Press Operators - $22+/hour - Based on skillset and experience! Lamination Operators - $22+/hour - Based on skillset and experience! Plus $1.50 night shift premium! WHAT PRESS OPERATORS GET TO DO
- Operators will lead inall aspects of operation of Press lines including changeovers, machine start-up, running and shut-down.
- Support operations in becoming World Class in all aspects of the business, beginning with Safety.
- Run all jobs in accordance with customer specification, manufacturing specification, print specification, color folders and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure all appropriate paperwork is filled out accurately and completely. This includes, but is not limited to; production reports, job verification sheets, ink usage sheets, QA reports, roll tickets (all flags are recorded), S.O.C sheets and all others as assigned.
- Work with and direct the press assistant and pit crew to minimize job change-over and down time.
- Train and direct the press assistant to become efficient at all the required assistant duties defined in each level of the assistant training matrix on time.
- While also knowing and understanding the role in product safety.
- Comply with all 5S and WCM initiatives (Cross Training, moving to the work)
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor or management
WHAT SLITTER OPERATORS GET TO DO
- Follows safe operating procedures and complies with all EHS and GPM guidelines to ensure that only the highest safety standard is maintained.
- Performs tasks within acceptable limits for quality, quantity, sanitation, and timeliness of completion, paying particular attention to prevent and eliminate costly errors.
- Meets Company's attendance requirements, including timely reporting of absence and working overtime, as requested.
- Maintains daily production quotas.
- Reads and understands work orders.
- Sets up and operates one or more slitting machines, core cutting machine or rewind machine to cut rolls of stock to specifications and wind or rewind as necessary
- Checks and inspects material received from prior operations to verify accuracy and conformance to specifications on Sales Order Form
- Complies with sanitation guidelines and good manufacturing practices related to neatness, product cleanliness and personal hygiene.
- Maintains a neat and orderly work area, in accordance to 5S Standards, by cleaning spills and disposing of trash on a timely basis.
- Performs basic operator preventative maintenance to machines and/or tools
- Complies with Company policies and performing other duties as assigned
WHAT LAMINATION OPERATORS GET TO DO
- Follows safe operating procedures and complies with all EHS and GPM guidelines to ensure that only the highest safety standard is maintained.
- Performs tasks within acceptable limits for quality, quantity, sanitation and timeliness of completion, paying particular attention to prevent and eliminate costly errors
- Meets company's attendance requirements, including timely reporting of absence and working overtime as requested
- Performs complex make-ready duties including: speedwell installation/removal, sump set up, webbing of the coating unit through the web path and operation of laminating machines to laminate or coat roll stock
- Ensures that NEMPM for lamination machine are achieved for the shift.
- Oversees the lamination machine setup including speedwell installation/removal, sump set up, webbing of the coating unit through the web path
- Oversees the setup and operation machine to laminate roll stock
- Inspects materials received from prior operations to verify accuracy and conformance to specifications, read specs and verify machine set-up to spec
- Performs inspections of running web, as well as finished rolls
- Performs safe loading/unloading practices of unwind and rewind.
- Performs basic operator preventative maintenance to machines and/or tools
- Instructs other workers and performs troubleshooting to maintain maximum efficiency and product quality
- Complies with Company policies and perform other duties as assigned
- Responsible for providing guidance to the crew to ensure laminated material is produced in a safe, effective and profitable manner. The lamination operator is also responsible for participating in continuous improvement and 5S initiatives.

WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability read, understand, and follow customer specifications
- Experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
- Forklift experience preferred
- Must have basic computer skills to complete tasks in operator software
- Required to have visual acuity to perform visual inspection including the use of measurement devices and ability to identify and distinguish colors
