Position Summary:
The New Jersey Institute of
Technology (NJIT) invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track faculty
appointment in the Department of Biological Sciences. We seek a researcher and
educator who studies neural development, neurophysiology, or neuroethology. The approach can be at the cellular, circuit, or
systems level, but special consideration will be given to candidates with a
comparative mindset and a broad interest in organismal biology.

Applicants will be expected to maintain a funded research program, supervise graduate and undergraduate students, teach undergraduate and graduate courses
mainly in their area of expertise, and contribute to the overall activities and
growth of the Department.

Essential Functions:
- Develop
an externally recognized research program in the field of neurobiology or
neurodevelopment.
- Obtain external funding for research.
- Advise and mentor
graduate students.
- Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in
areas of expertise.
- Contribute to successful functioning of the department and university via service on committees
and in other capacities.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
- PhD in an appropriate field.
- Demonstrated research ability and a vision for a sustainable research program.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites
may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the
university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically
preparing the candidate for success in the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated teaching ability.
