Your Location: Verona, WI Job Summary and Purpose: The Autogenous Bacterin Lab Technician I provides support in the manufacture of vaccines through performance of aerobic and anaerobic bacterial culture processes. Responsibilities and Key Duties: * Conduct and/or assist with small- and large-scale Bacterial culture operations using various medias, performing observations, inoculations, harvests, inactivation's, precipitations, decantation, and storage processes in accordance with approved procedures and records * Perform inactivated bacterial antigen pooling and bulking procedures and concentrations as needed * Assist with and/or perform daily observation and documentation * Assist with and/or create various medias form powders and liquid components * Assist with and/or conduct large vessel activity, including integrity test, dry sterilization, liquid sterilization, vessel CIP, and equipment cleaning * Prepare solutions and equipment needed for processes * Disinfect and clean laboratories, surrounding areas, and equipment per standards * Maintain and/or perform inventory counts of isolates, solutions, raw materials and final antigen * Perform duties in accordance with applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and make suggestions for changes as needed * Accurately complete all necessary documentation in accordance with good documentation practices * Perform general housekeeping of halls, airlocks, laboratories, storage areas, and equipment * Additional duties as assigned Core Competencies: * Shape solutions out of complexity - Work to evolve immediate environment * Client focus - Make sure needs and requests are treated equally and strive for positive impact * Collaborate with empathy - Fully engage with working groups to share information, listen to others, and have a clear vision of the decisions made * Engage and develop - Open to sharing knowledge and to receive feedback. * Drive ambition and accountability - Follow quality and safety principles and work to ensure accuracy of work through use of KPI's. * Influence others - Demonstrate a positive attitude and confidence while communicating and performing tasks Technical / Functional Competencies: * Able to operate technical machinery and computerized equipment * Understand main production procedures on equipment for which you are qualified for and consult documentation if needed * Able to follow instructions and production schedules * Understand and follow all regulations as wee as health, safety, quality and environmental standards applicable to your environment * Understand lean philosophy and purpose * Can apply performance management tools per KPIs follow-up * Awareness on change management and coaching practices * Apply basic lean tools as per 5S, standard work * Ability to consider production standards -- time, raw materials, productivity and final quality * Is able to participate in a project to provide his/her expertise/output * Good understanding of heat and pressure within tanks * Strong mathematical aptitude * Good communication skills, both verbal and written * Able to work overtime as needed * Knowledge of clean room behavior and aseptic technique * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite Qualifications: Education - Undergraduate degree in biology or a related field, preferred but not required Work Experience - Previous laboratory work, preferred but not required Physical Requirements: * Able to read, write legibly and understand English * Frequent repetitions of squatting, bending, reaching and twisting * Frequent standing for long periods of time * Lift up to 25 pounds frequently * Lifting up to 55 pounds and greater (with team lift) * Standing: approximately 80% of the day * Frequent repetition of wrist and shoulder rotations * Dexterity: frequent fine motor movements * Daily dressing and operating in clean room required garments * Visual inspection in order to compare to color standards Working Conditions: Clean room manufacturing laboratory in dedicated and sterile full suit gowns, including face mask are required for certain processes Fermentation and Incubation production laboratory with exposure to warm to cold temperature extremes This job description is intended to convey information essential to understanding the scope of the job and general nature and level of work performed by job holders within this job.
