Major Responsibilities:
- Responsible for and/or provides assistance with installation, replacement, repair, and testing of electrical circuits, equipment, wiring, appliances, systems, lighting, signals, communication, generating and distribution equipment (over 4000 volts), and power circuits.
- Makes recommendations on the design, layout, and installation of electrical systems and equipment.
- Serves as a liaison to contractors, performing follow-up for supervisor, relaying requirements of the job etc.
- Analyzes and isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment using test instruments such as ammeter, ohmmeter, and voltmeter.
- Maintains, tests, and repairs building electrical equipment such as emergency power generator sets, fire pumps, air handling units, fire alarm system, and equipment in power house.
- Conducts electrical safety inspection of new equipment being brought into the facility such as refrigerators, microwave ovens, beds, etc.
- Conducts electrical preventative maintenance as scheduled and assists in updating and monitoring of preventative maintenance records.
- Maintains an inventory of electrical supplies and initiates request.
- Instructs fellow employees on location of protective devices for equipment, branch circuits and feeders and also the location and function of controls for special circuits.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- A valid drivers license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles.
Education Required: High School Graduate or GED Electrician
- Associate's Degree in Electrical Studies. We may consider less education
HVAC
- Associate's Degree in HVAC May consider less education and experience
Experience Required:
- No experience required for Electrician however experience is preferred
- Typically requires 1-2 years of experience in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and cooling (HVAC) and refrigeration for HVAC Tech
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Current driving record that meets Aurora fleet safety standards.
- Electrician - Knowledge and understanding of National Electrical Codes, state and local electrical codes/regulations pertaining to healthcare equipment and operations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and job specifications.
- HVAC -
- Knowledge and basic proficiency in electricity, plumbing, HVAC, steam fitting, soldering, carpentry, fabricating, and groundskeeping.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with various departments in order to coordinate repairs.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, crawl, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to:
- lift up to 15 lbs. from floor to overhead.
- lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to chest-level.
- lift and carry up to 50 lbs. at waist height a reasonable distance.
- Must be able to:
- push/pull with 50 lbs. of force.
- Exposure to electrical and mechanical hazards and therefore knowledge of safety precautions.
- Possible exposure to radioactivity and therefore ability to wear protective clothing as necessary.
- Position requires travel. May be exposed to road/weather hazards.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
