The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Position Summary Reporting to the Director of Technology Systems, the Senior System Support Specialist plans, leads and executes hardware and software supports and maintenance activities for Public Safety department systems, client computers of both administrative and security functions. In addition, the incumbent will monitor Lenel campus security system status, troubleshoot and resolve access control and network video surveillance issues. The incumbent will also assist to develop custom solutions, evaluate new systems and conduct tests for other department initiative and projects. Responsibilities
Plan, prepare and execute software patches, OS upgrade and security updates for all department servers, databases, client computers, and mission critical applications.
Maintain Lenel network video recorders, troubleshoot and solve hardware and software issues promptly
Monitor Lenel security system status and performance and take corrective and preventive actions as needed
Maintain Mark43 interface server and ensure successful daily data exchange with various internal and external systems
Provide technical support for Mark43 CAD System
Participate special projects and department initiative such as Video Management System upgrade
Performs routine maintenance and software/hardware upgrades for Public Safety owned systems and peripheral devices.
document problems and resolutions for peers and end users.
Lead in searching, validation and implementation of applications upgrades and customizations.
Weekend and off-hour work may be necessary on occasion.
All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and or its equivalent experience required.
- 3 - 5 years of related experience.
Must be proficient with Windows and Mac operating system.
Demonstrated analytical skill and ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems in security systems.
Must be organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, have the ability to self-train, and require minimal direction while exercising good judgment.
The ability to manage multiple, parallel activities, work under pressure is a must.
Thorough knowledge of software, networking, and protocols common to the Public Safety computing environment such as: desktop OS virtualization, Microsoft Office, the major web browsers, TCP/IP, antivirus and security solutions and workstation imaging solutions.
