We are seeking qualified candidates for the position of Laboratory & Research Technician and for the position of Laboratory & Research Specialist to be responsible for a number of laboratory research and development duties in a clean-room facility, focusing primarily on the fabrication (such as lithography, sputtering, dry etching, dicing and etc) of thin film microelectronic devices and circuits for funded research projects. The position requires the handling of hazardous chemicals. Given the educational setting, the applicants will need to be able to work with students and to work with other staff in a team environment. The applicant will report to Professor Arthur Lichtenberger (in the Department of Electrical Engineering), but work within a sizeable research team to help support a variety of projects. Salary and benefits offered will be commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the candidate. For consideration as a Laboratory & Research Technician 2: Applicants must have an Associates degree and 2 years experience in a laboratory or facility with technical equipment and/or research & development or production role is a plus. Eye-hand coordination and dexterity is a plus. Applicant's familiarity with microfabrication equipment and processing is desirable, but not required (we will train the right candidate). For consideration as a Laboratory Specialist Intermediate: Applicants must have a BA degree. We prefer the candidate to have a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or Chemistry. Candidates with 4 (or more) years of experience in a laboratory or facility with technical equipment and/or research & development or production role is a plus. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Associate's degree Experience:At least 2 years of lab experience which may include student experience.Bachelor's degree in related science will be considered in lieu of experience. Licensure: None. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. Also requires keyboarding and other bench work and animal procedures requiring finer finger manipulation.
