The Robert M. Berne Cardiovascular Research Center (CVRC) at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks candidates for a Research Associate to join the Toldo Lab. The successful applicant must have demonstrated skills in cell biology assays and basic immunological and molecular biology assays (i.e. ELISA, Western blot, rt-PCR). The position will require in vivo work in the area of anti-inflammatory therapies in small animal models of cardiovascular disease. A focused ultrasound experience adds strength to the application. This position represents an opportunity to advance knowledge, learn practical lab-based skills, gain research experience, and participate in exciting science for a highly motivated individual. The incumbent will participate in a multiplicity of relevant lab projects and in writing study reports for the study sponsors, papers, and grant applications and is expected to develop research programs as time permits. The incumbent will also be expected to attend and participate in laboratory meetings and CVRC-related seminars, as well as work with graduate students, technicians, fellows and collaborators in the laboratories involved in the project. Minimum Experience Education: Doctoral degree at the time of hire. Note: Research Associates are for candidates who have obtained their PHD within the past 4 years. Candidates who have received (or will received) their terminal degree between May 2021 and January 2025 are eligible to apply.
