Job Description

The Sr. Business Operations Associate will work onsite managing the day-to-day operations and objectives in support of the assigned portfolio. The successful candidate must have proven ability to manage multiple projects and manage stressful situations in an environment which is deadline-driven, with a high volume of proposals and must possess good communication skills.
-Must have the ability to perform as a self-starter with high-level initiative, strong work ethic, and good organization skills.
-Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills are required as well as the ability to multi-task and manage a high volume of e-mail in a deadline-driven environment. Ability to shift focus between competing demands easily while working under immutable deadlines and attending to urgencies.
-Work collaboratively with other departments to accomplish projects.
-Ability to manage institutional compliance concerns while maintaining a strong focus on customer service, including the ability to provide technical feedback in a positive, constructive, and professional manner.
-Responsible for remaining current on issues in the field of research administration including laws, regulations, agency requirements and developing conditions in grants and contracts administration to ensure that proposals are submitted with accurate information.
-Maintain proper documentation of all proposal submissions of grants and contracts.
-Review and make recommendations on grant and contract proposals for adherence to sponsor requirements, School of Medicine (SOM) and University fiscal and administrative policies including budgets, resources, human and animal protection assurances and biosafety.
-Assist the Grants & Contracts Manager with training SOM faculty and independently train administrative staff.
-Review Just-in-Time requests, progress reports, supplemental and amended information as requested by external sponsors to ensure compliance and accuracy.
-Track proposals through the University system from the time they leave the SOM Grants & Contracts Office until final award or rejection notice is received from external sponsor.
-Attend training workshops and monthly meetings on campus.
-Other duties as assigned.

Shift

Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of current grants and contracts compliance regulations and policies at national, state and local levels.

The ability to interpret and apply them to specific grants at the pre- and post-award level. Experience using electronic research administration systems (e.g., NSF Fastlane, grants.gov, eRA Commons).

You should possess good professional judgment, a strong work ethic, and be able to appropriately prioritize project deadlines in a self-directed environment.

In addition, you should have strong problem solving and organizational skills, excellent customer service skills, a collaborative nature, and be able to manage priorities and meet deadlines.

Strong Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat skills, as well as strong written and oral communication skills, are required.

Research Administration experience is desirable. Strong analytical skills, budget preparation/grant preparation experience a plus.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $51,875 - $73,008 Annually
Grade: GGS-10
