Description

The School-Based Clinician at Academy for Personal Leadership and Excellence is responsible for the delivery of age-relevant program activities and direct services, outreach, and paperwork for billing and clinical purposes. The School-Based Clinician, based in the Bronx, will support facilitation of professional development workshops, and may clinically supervise assigned MSW and other graduate level interns, if SIFI certified. The School-Based Clinician will report to the Site Manager and Clinical Program Manager. The School-Based Clinician position is a 10-month position (September -June), 40 hours per week, and will be supervised by the Site Manager. Upon completion of the academic school year, and based on needs of the organization, the School-Based Clinician may be moved to a different site the following school year.
The salary range for the School-Based Clinician is $49,000-$54,000.

How You'll Be Making a Difference



  • Responsible for a caseload of students, including maintaining attendance and educational progress, providing students and families with continuous feedback and resources to meet the needs and ensure academic success.
  • Provides individual and group counseling to students on a weekly basis.
  • Supports and co-facilitates classroom sessions - Advisory, Side by Side, and/or SEL curriculum.
  • Plans and facilitates milieu services in common spaces, such as classroom, cafeteria, and afterschool push-ins, arrival and dismissal.
  • Serves as a Success Mentor, and provides attendance supports and interventions for students struggling with attendance.
  • Completes weekly Success Mentoring logs.
  • Facilitates communication between students, families, and school staff.
  • Serves as part of school teams, such as Attendance, Counseling, and others, as identified by Site Manager.
  • Provides outreach to students and their families, including phone calls, written correspondence, and home visits.
  • Provides crisis counseling, conflict mediation and social-emotional support.
  • Completes screenings, assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and provides referrals.
  • Facilitates use of evaluation tools for school-based services.
  • Timely completion of required documentation for clinical and billing purposes (EMR Dr. Cloud).
  • Participates in staff meetings and staff development opportunities.
  • Collaborates on transdisciplinary team of Wediko and school staff to create individualized plans to support student progress.
  • Participates in PBIS and other multi-tiered systems of supports in the school.
  • Supports the facilitation of professional development workshops for school staff.
  • Cultivates and maintains effective relationships with school staff and other school-based partners.
  • Represents Wediko in the field via participation or presentations at panels, conferences, meetings, etc.
  • Supports the implementation of the Community School Model.
  • All functions and task responsibilities are subject to change, as deemed necessary by Site Manager and Program Manager based on needs of assigned site.


Qualifications



  • Advanced degree in mental health/counseling (e.g., MSW, M.S. Ed in Counseling, MFT, etc.)
  • Licensed professional strongly preferred
  • Clinical supervision and client contact hours towards independent licensure
  • 1-3 years' experience working within programs serving youth and families preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to approach challenges in a supportive and creative manner
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • Flexible schedule and willingness to work school hours as well as some weekends/evenings in support of school events
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred
