Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

In this role, you will configure test equipment and products for test in the High Current test facility with general direction from staff engineers and customers. Perform maintenance tasks and troubleshooting of laboratory systems. You will work an 8 hour split-shift schedule starting at 11:00 AM until 7:30 PM Monday-Friday.

You will report to the Manager, Chemicals and Materials Engineering.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Functional

  • Set up complicated tests under the direction of an engineer including test devices, test circuits, and instrumentation for short-circuit, overload, and electrical endurance tests in the High Current, Medium Current, and Electrical Endurance Facilities. This includes devices ranging from very small glass fuses weighing less than an ounce, to 6,000 A bus structures weighing several thousand pounds. The job frequently requires physical strength and agility in the movement and setup of test and laboratory equipment.
  • Conduct routine and less complicated tests.
  • Proficiently and safely handle large material handling equipment such as pallet hand trucks and fork lift trucks to facilitate movement and setup of test and laboratory equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, calibrate and update control circuits, power equipment, instrumentation, and computers in the laboratory as assigned. Maintain log of equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Maintain and upgrade existing systems.
  • Perform delegated technician tasks.

Where applicable (i.e. laboratory staff who generate, handle or dispose of hazardous or potentially hazardous waste(s) and laboratory staff who work near, around or have the potential to handle or come into contact with hazardous waste(s)), laboratory staff will appropriately handle, segregate and dispose of all hazardous wastes and potentially hazardous wastes. Hazardous waste duties will be performed in accordance with federal and state regulations, as well as Rockwell Automation Policies and Procedures. Hazardous wastes will be handled by staff only after appropriate training has been completed.

Business

  • Continuously look for ways to improve the efficiency, consistency and methodology in laboratory systems and procedures.
  • The position requires working with high voltage and currents and requires strict adherence to safety procedures.
  • Adhere to laboratory quality system and ISO/IEC 17025.

Ensures familiarity with company policies and procedures. Appropriately applies policies and procedures in compliance with government laws. Policies and procedures include, but not limited to: Standards of Business Conduct, Intellectual Property, Control Environment, Information Protection, ISO 9000 & 14000, government regulations (e.g. health, safety, quality and environmental), and functional policies published on the Rockwell Automation Information Network.

The Essentials- you will have:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

The Preferred- you might also have:

  • Typically requires 1+ year of experience
  • Must maintain valid material handling (forklift) certification.
  • Knowledge in electrical power, electrical equipment setup & testing as well as electrical safety practices, and familiarity with pc-based software including, Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets), Word, PowerPoint.
  • Experience in high-power or related electrical testing.
  • Knowledge of UL and IEC standards
