Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

In this role, you will be responsible for conducting tests in the High Current Laboratory, developing and implementing lab control and instrumentation systems. You will provide testing and technical support to other labs in Product Performance Testing group. Direct technicians in performing assigned tasks. You will work with product engineers and technicians and outside customers. You will work a split shift starting at 11:00AM until 7:30PM Monday-Friday

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Functional

  • Conduct tests for Rockwell Automation and for outside customers. Determine test requirements and review them for faults and / or compatibility with the test facility. Interpret test specifications and obtain clarification when necessary to insure that tests are being conducted as intended.
  • Write test reports that clearly describe the tests performed and results obtained.
  • Become thoroughly familiar with the High Current Laboratory operation and test procedures.
  • Become increasingly independent of senior engineers in testing and project work.
  • Provide testing and technical support to other labs such as Engineering Labs, EMC and Shock & Vibration as needed.
  • Develop and implement new lab control and instrumentation systems and maintain and upgrade existing systems: PC and workstation based data acquisition system hardware and software design and upgrades, Laboratory control systems design and upgrades- This includes PLC integration and programming, and Power equipment maintenance and upgrades.
  • Assist in troubleshooting laboratory systems as situations arise.
  • The tests and test devices vary greatly. This requires that you adapt test facility to various test conditions. This needs sound engineering knowledge, ability to extemporize, and ability to think straight.
  • Continuously look for ways to improve efficiency and methodology in laboratory systems and procedures.

Business

  • Responds with urgency to unique needs and delivers timely, cost effective solutions.
  • Provide technical support to Development areas regarding testing requirements and industrial standards.
  • The position requires working with high voltage and currents and requires strict adherence to safety procedures.

Ensures thorough familiarity with company policies and procedures. Appropriately applies policies and procedures in compliance with government laws. Policies and procedures include, but not limited to: Standards of Business Conduct, Intellectual Property, Control Environment, Information Protection, ISO 9000 & 14000, government regulations (e.g. health, safety, quality and environmental), and functional policies published on the Rockwell Automation Information Network.

The Essentials- you will have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Relevant Field
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

The Preferred- you might also have:

  • Typically requires 5+ years of relevant experience
  • 1+ year as a test engineer in electrical power testing and 1+ year in computerized instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of electronics and computer science
  • Knowledge of national and international standards dealing with power engineering such as UL, CSA, IEC, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
