USAC's target compensation range for a new hire into this position is $95,000 - $125,000 USD per year. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors based on knowledge, skills, and experience, as evaluated throughout the interview process. In addition, this position may be eligible for an annual performance bonus. USAC has a comprehensive benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, Commuter Benefits, and Wellness Programs.

USAC employees follow a hybrid work schedule, working onsite in D.C. at least two days per week.

As USAC continues to support universal service impacting health care providers, educators, and consumers, it is critical now more than ever that we hire people equally passionate and committed to helping fulfill our mission. We are currently seeking an experienced, dynamic and collaborative professional to serve as an IT Security Engineer II to join our IT team.

Reporting to the Manager IT Security Operations (SOC), you will:

  • Evaluate, implement, maintain, monitor IT security measures across the organization and be responsible for reviewing and accessing security vulnerabilities across USAC applications.
  • Conduct vulnerability scans of the USAC network to validate the current state of vulnerabilities throughout the USAC network.
  • Maintain Security Assessment Packages (ATO Documentation, SSPs, Assessment Reports, Risk Calculation,
  • etc.).
  • Evaluate new and existing applications for security compliance.
  • Provide recommendations to improve USAC's security posture.
  • Validate remediation efforts of findings related to vulnerability and system configurations.
  • Perform security initiative gap assessments.
  • Implement, test, and maintain defined security solutions.
  • Provide security support for USAC project development and existing USAC applications.
  • Responsible for updating and implementing the annual USAC security awareness training, annual USAC developer security training and annual USAC administrator security training.
  • Respond to day-to-day IT operations and internal requirements requiring security support.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

About You

  • Bachelor Degree and/or relevant technical training and certifications.
  • Three (3) to Four (4) years of directly related experience.
  • Three (3)+ years of advanced computer expertise.
  • Three (3) + years of IT network security knowledge and implementation experience (e.g. firewalls, secure topologies/architectures, SIEM Tools, intrusion detection, Microsoft and UNIX OS security)
  • Three (3)+ years of experience with MS Office Professional tools suite, security incident/forensics, and
  • system administration for Unix and/or Microsoft operating systems.
  • Experience with system baseline configurations.
  • Knowledge of IT security policy and standards development and POA&M tracking and remediation.
  • Experience and/or familiarity with Websense configuration/maintenance, security information/event manager configuration, anti-malware tools, Checkpoint firewall, wireless network security testing, Federal Security regulations, all desired.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES

CISSP, CISM, and/or CISA certification required; CCNP, MCSE, or equivalent is preferred
