Join Our Team as a CNC Programmer!

Are you passionate about Fabrication? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to coordinate our CNC Programmer function. As an Intermediate CNC Programmer, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team.

The CNC Programming group is responsible for creating CNC programs throughout the fabrication department, this includes creating programs for lathes, mills, press brakes, punch press, laser, waterjet, and other technologies as we keep improving our processing equipment. You will be working with various types of drawings and blueprints ranging from simple hand drawn documents or detail drawings to CAD generated assemblies. You will be required to maintain high quality and productivity standards and adhere to all applicable safety practices and procedures. This position requires good verbal communication skills and the ability to work closely with other Programmers, machinists, engineers, designers, and production personnel in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creating and modifying 2D Sketches using the Solid Edge CAD software application
  • Creating and modifying basic 3D part models using the Solid Edge CAD software application
  • Creating 2D DXF Files from Solid Edge models and other available computer-generated files.
  • Developing and maintaining tooling standards, and tool code assembly drawings
  • Selecting appropriate tools, feeds, and speeds to be used during machining of the part.
  • Generating G and M machine code using CAM software applications
  • Basic programming of Robotic equipment applications.
  • Investigate trends in cutting tool applications.
  • Investigating new technologies regarding tooling and processing methods as they relate to CNC machine tools.
  • Working with factory personnel to troubleshoot both old and new CNC programs
  • Perform associated data tasks in Oracle and 3DX applications.

What you'll Need To Succeed:

  • Has, or is pursuing, certificate in CNC/CAM related field. 3 year minimum experience with metal cutting operations.
  • Ability to read blueprints, perform shop math, use of inspection tools, and ability to read basic machine code commands.
  • Good interpersonal skills to work with engineers, designers and machinists.
  • Experience in use of SolidEdge 3D modeling, or equivalent CAD software.
  • Minimum 1 year experience offline sheet metal process. (Salvagnini, Radan, LVD, Amada)
  • Preferred experience programming robotic applications.

Relevant Experience Required:

  • Has operated or programmed machining equipment, minimum 3 years.
  • Has performed some offline CNC programming for sheet metal processing and basic robotic programming.

MAJOR PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Standing: Occasional, during program prove outs at machines.
  • Lifting: Occasional light lifting of parts.
  • Walking: Frequent walking of moderate distances (1 mile) within the S&C complex.
  • Carrying: Occasional carrying of CNC tools or parts short distances.
  • Reaching: Occasional reaching to investigate parts in machines.
  • Handling: Occasional handling of CNC tools or parts.
  • Other: Frequent use of computer workstation monitor, keyboard and mouse.
  • Some travel required. May be required to travel offsite for company related functions.
