Job Description Summary
The Department of Physics at Auburn University is seeking a space plasma physicist with speciality in theory, numerical simulation, or modeling for a tenure track/tenured faculty position at a rank of assistant, associate, or full professor in the general area of solar wind-magnetosphere-ionosphere physics. Experience in kinetic or global modeling of plasma processes in the Sun-Earth system is desirable. Auburn University is an R1, land-, sea-, and space-grant university. The Space Physics group of Auburn University is recognized for its expertise in global and kinetic simulations of the magnetosphere, analysis of spacecraft observations, and development of space instrument and space missions. Other active areas of research within the Department include fusion plasma physics, dusty plasma physics, condensed matter physics, atomic molecular and optical physics, biophysics, and physics education.
The successful candidate will be expected to: (1) demonstrate strong leadership potential in the area of Space Physics, (2) perform innovative research and attract extramural funding while participating in further development of the Space Physics group research portfolio at Auburn University, (3) provide direction to undergraduate, graduate students and post-doctoral researchers in Space Physics, and (4) have a strong commitment to high-quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level in the Physics curriculum.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in physics or a closely related field at the time employment begins. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills are required. The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
