Position description

The Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco is recruiting for Clinician Investigators and Population Scientists in the Division of General Internal Medicine for UCSF Health (DGIM) who will combine research with patient care, education, and other academic responsibilities. Candidates with experience and career interest in health services research, clinical epidemiology and health disparities research with diverse patient populations are encouraged to apply. We are particularly interested in recruiting candidates who study populations who are traditionally under-represented in research and/or suffer a disproportionate burden of poor outcomes and who can establish a research program focused on the patient populations we serve. DGIM is home to major health equity research groups including the Center for Aging in Diverse Communities and the Multiethnic Health Equity Research Center.

Candidates must have completed (or in process of completing) a general internal medicine fellowship and/or have a doctoral degree in a health-related discipline or equivalent. Candidates who have an MD must also be American Board of Internal Medicine certified or eligible and possess (or in process of obtaining) a valid California medical license and valid DEA. Successful candidates should have demonstrated skill in research methodology and a track record of publications. Applicant must have all requirements met by time of hire.

The Division of General Internal Medicine offers a collaborative environment to support junior faculty researchers with structured mentoring and a program to advise junior faculty on grant writing. In addition, research faculty in the division have access to a programmer who can perform structured queries of the electronic health record and a statistician who is available to advise on grant applications.
