The Halston Narrative Exhibition Practicum - Student Worker

To enhance the student experience, various students will be responsible for the various tasks listed below in anticipation of the The Halston Narrative: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow Exhibition along with the execution and function of the exhibition. May be federal work study eligible.

Customer Service:

Be a positive representation of the School of Art & Designs, Art & Fashion Departments at Lipscomb University.

Greeting visitors, answering inquiries, and providing information about the artworks, exhibitions, and artists.

Assisting visitors in navigating the gallery and ensuring a positive experience for all guests.

Scan visitors' exhibition tickets at the door, assist with exhibition flow, and observe guests in the exhibition space.

Set up and clean up the gallery and exhibition space daily.

Exhibition Support:

Assisting with the setup and takedown of exhibitions.

This may include assisting in hanging artwork, arranging displays, and ensuring proper lighting and signage.

Assistance will assist with gallery installation and daily maintenance of the exhibition.

display areas and common areas are tidy and presentable.

Event Coordination:

Assisting in the planning, coordination, and execution of gallery events, such as opening receptions, artist talks, and workshops.

This may involve managing guest lists, sending invitations, setting up event spaces, and providing support during the events.

Assistance will work on special viewings and events that are held in the gallery space

Store Maintenance and Visual Merchandising:

Ensure the store is clean, organized, and visually appealing at all times.

Arrange and replenish merchandise on shelves and displays to maintain proper stock levels and visual aesthetics.

Monitor inventory levels and communicate with the store manager to restock popular items or remove slow-selling products.

Assist with pricing, tagging, and labeling merchandise according to store guidelines.

Collaborate with the store team to implement visual merchandising strategies and maintain an attractive store layout.

Team Collaboration:

Work collaboratively with other sales associates and store staff to achieve overall store objectives.

Communicate effectively with team members to ensure a seamless and coordinated customer experience.

Assist in training new sales associates and share product knowledge and sales techniques.

Contribute to a positive and inclusive work environment by fostering teamwork and cooperation.

Sales and Product Promotion:

Actively promote and upsell products to increase sales and meet sales targets.

Maintain a thorough knowledge of the gift shop's product offerings and stay updated on new arrivals and promotions.

Arrange and display merchandise in an appealing and organized manner to attract customers.

Make recommendations to customers based on their interests and offer suitable add-on products.

Participate in sales events and contribute to achieving sales goals.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

Collaborate with various teams, including marketing, sales, and operations, to ensure effective execution of merchandising strategies.

Assist in coordinating promotional activities, product launches, and seasonal campaigns.

Provide support in preparing sales reports, presentations, and other merchandising-related documentation.
