Job Description:
This is a lead analyst position responsible for a wide array of daily Labor Accounting tasks and executing monthly financial close activities in a timely manner. The position also functions as an important point of contact with Human Resources and Payroll Processing divisions at GDLS, providing precise and timely guidance to help address timekeeping, HR, and payroll matters.

Other responsibilities in addition to daily tasks include process improvement identification. Successful candidates must have a good level of understanding of the principles of accounting and internal controls and will perform the following tasks:

Responsibilities to Anticipate for this role
  • Execute systematic processes for labor collection, rate development and labor distribution
  • Perform analytical procedures to reconcile and validate accuracy of labor cost distribution
  • Prepare batch processing reconciliations to ensure accuracy of large volume batch processes
  • Run weekly reports to monitor unapproved timesheets (Sox controls)
  • Monitor weekly timesheet corrections
  • Prepare and process monthly labor journals and provide applicable G/L accounts reconciliations
  • Preform monthly analysis of labor charges in suspense and identify actions to resolve
  • Act as main point of contact for user inquiries on timekeeping and payroll related issues
  • Responsible for user setups and updates to the hourly labor system
  • IT liaison; perform user testing and validation for system upgrades and emergency fixes
  • Support audit requests (internal, external, DCAA)
  • Coordinate labor accounting and payroll year end tasks
  • Special Projects


Qualifications Sought
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required and or equivalent experience. Master's degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Accounting or Finance
  • FPC or CPP designation is a plus
  • Understanding of Government Cost Accounting Standards, Federal Acquisition Regulations and accounting for long term contracts requirements is beneficial
  • Oracle experience beneficial
  • Must have keen attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels is necessary.
  • Ability to prioritize and work multi-task assignments while meeting deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Discipline to follow procedures and comply with internal controls
  • Must be comfortable working with computer applications and financial systems
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Access)
