MONDAY-FRIDAY SHIFT: OCCASIONAL WEEKEND SHIFTS

Job Summary and Purpose:

The Facilities Technician II is responsible for ensuring raw materials and supplies are ordered, available at time of need, and stored in appropriate storage conditions. Additionally, the Facilities Technician II will ensure common spaces, both inside and out are in appropriate condition, waste is handled compliantly, hazardous materials are delivered between campus locations, and the general needs of the campus are met.

Responsibilities and Key Duties:

* Manage contractors, while on site, within the Facilities group responsibility to include gown and linen suppliers, first aid supplies, recycling and waste contractors, and construction contractors overseen by facilities.

* Deliver hazardous materials from location to location daily. This requires a CDL with HazMat endorsement. Commercial driving activities will be from 1-3 hours daily.

* Ensure supplies and raw materials needed by manufacturing groups are provided and supplied on time and in full by managing dock specific Kanban system.

* Clear docks regularly to eliminate over packing of docks and blocked emergency exits.

* Documents all lab support functions performed.

* Handle waste and perform waste determinations to ensure waste is handled as required by Johnson County, KDHE, and EPA. Review hazardous waste manifests for accuracy, sign bills of lading and manifest, ensure waste areas are inspected and in compliance at all times.

* Manage all infectious waste on campus through waste vendor management. Ensure waste management supplies are delivered to campus on time and communicate regularly with vendor.

* Attend shop floor meetings to ensure manufacturing needs are being met consistently by facilities.

* Ensure general housekeeping at facility is at a high level.

* Inventory breakroom supplies: manage break room supplies including ordering, stock breakrooms, and spot clean when necessary.

* Prepare all waste for shipment throughout campus

* Complete campus wide inspections to ensure compliance with EPA regulation.

* Assist in forklift operator hands on training.

* May provide basic training to other technicians upon mastery of skill set and may be asked to perform additional duties in assigned and unassigned areas.

Technical / Functional Competencies:

* CDL with HazMat endorsement, or ability to acquire CDL with HazMat endorsement within 90 days

* Ability to drive a forklift and move materials with other equipment using appropriate methods

* Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suites

* Basic data entry skills

* RCRA Hazardous Waste Certification or ability to acquire within 30 days

* Ability to work weekends

Qualifications:

Education - High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Work Experience - 1-2 years warehouse, facilities, transportation, or manufacturing experience desired

Other (consider certifications, specialized knowledge and/or training, etc.) - CDL with HazMat endorsement, or ability to acquire

Physical Requirements:

* Ability to read, write legibly and communicate in English

* Visual inspection

Working Conditions:

* Both indoor and outdoor work is required with exposure to all potential weather conditions.

* Handle hazardous waste and other chemicals if necessary

* Driving within city limits and highways
