TES Veterinary Assistant to provide care & treatment to small animal patients!
This position will primarily provide support for the ophthalmology service, but will also assist as needed in other services including dermatology, surgery, and internal medicine. The ideal candidate is flexible, eager to learn, and enjoys working with multiple services. Showcase your skillset by filling your workdays with patient care, patient histories, client communication, filling medications, patient monitoring, and various diagnostic procedures in a supportive academic setting.
Scheduling can be flexible for the right candidate.

Temporary Employment Services (

TES provides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. Temporary employees are hired for a variety of reasons with the most common being:
- Assistance in the place of a regular employee who is absent for a specified period of time
- Additional assistance during periods of abnormal or peak workloads
- Assistance with special projects
- Seasonal work

Essential Functions |
- Observes and records vital signs, abnormal behavior, body weight, food/water intake, basic husbandry, and comfort levels of animals under the direction of a veterinarian
- Maintains communication with veterinarian regarding patient status and potential concerns
- Monitors the condition of animals before, during, and/or after surgery
- Collects, prepares, and labels samples for laboratory testing to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patient health
- Performs veterinary procedures such as emergency first aid
- Fill prescriptions and assist with diagnostic procedures
- Communicate with clients to obtain patient histories & provide education
- Assists with student instruction programs
- Organizes, cleans, stocks, and prepares treatment rooms for examination of animals, and holds or restrains animals during examination or treatment
- Administers treatments to animals, including giving injections, maintaining intravenous catheters, and more under the direction of a veterinarian

Minimum Qualifications |
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of clinical experience within a veterinary setting

Desired Qualifications |
Our ideal candidate has 2+ years of clinical experience within a veterinary setting & is excited to grow and learn more about specialty medicine in an academic setting! Familiarity with the knowledge, equipment, and procedures relevant to veterinary medicine is preferred. |
