missions :

Location: Lenenxa, KS

The Biochemistry Technician I will be involved in the testing of raw materials, in-process antigens, and final product by immunological, colorimetric, and analytical assays. The technician will ensure products are tested in a manner consistent with Standard Operating Procedures and in compliance with regulations according to 9CFR.

Responsibilities and Key Duties:

-Evaluate virus and bacteria by immunochemical assays for potency, identity, purity, and quality

-Assay various raw materials, in-process antigens, and final product for basic chemical compositions

-Perform titrations and identity testing of viruses or bacteria using ELISA

-Perform extraneous virus testing by qPCR

-Ensure adherence to all SOP's and documentation required to perform testing referenced above

Technical / Functional Competencies:

* Basic knowledge of general immunology and chemistry is required

* Basic understanding of Virology/Bacteriology

* Must have good aseptic technique

* Basic understanding of parallel comparison ELISA calculations

* Basic skills with databases and word processing programs

Qualifications:

Education - Bachelors degree in Microbiology, Veterinary Science or equivalent

Work Experience - preferred 2 years in Quality in veterinary biologics industry

Other - preferred PCR experience

Physical Requirements:

* Ability to perform repetitive motions

* Standing for extended periods of time

* Must be able to read, write legible and understand English

* Visual inspection

Working Conditions:

* Position located at the Biomune Lenexa campus in the quality control laboratory

* Required to work with hazardous materials
