Job Summary

Information Technology Services (ITS) at the MCCCD is looking for a seasoned Library Specialist Senior. This role requires critical thinking and attention to detail in order to coordinate and perform cataloging of library materials. Additionally, this position facilitates and expedites interlibrary loans and accounts for the availability of required resource materials.

Essential Functions

40% - Performs, edits and/or expedites cataloging of library print and media materials; applies rules and standards in creating bibliographic records in national library databases; provides cataloging process guidance related to policies, procedures and the interpretation of technical documentation and related to automated library systems.
30% - Provides second tier resolution for college and/or vendor issues; reviews and verifies order documentation; performs materials inspection for transit damage and follows up with college/vendor as appropriate.
10% -Facilitates interlibrary loan processes between District libraries and other agencies.
10% - Processes library materials; receives and accounts for library materials which may include labeling, stamping, taping and covering books.
10% - Provides assistance with special cataloging projects; performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in any field and two (2) years of library support experience such as cataloging of library materials, circulation support, reference customer service, and facilitation/coordination of interlibrary loans and resource materials.

Or

High School Diploma/GED and four (4) years of library support experience such as cataloging of library materials, circulation support, reference customer service, and facilitation/coordination of interlibrary loans and resource materials.

Desired Qualifications

A. Experience cataloging library materials.
B. Experience receiving and/or physically processing library materials.
C. Knowledge of LC classification and subject headings.
D. Experience training, coaching, or leading library staff.
E. Experience working with Interlibrary loan processing.

Special Working Conditions

This position is onsite at the District Office located in Tempe, AZ (2419 W. 14th Street, 85281).
MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visas.
May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time; viewing a computer monitor.
