Position Overview


Primary Purpose of Position
Primary responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in nutrition and food science, developing a research program in the discipline and securing external grants; advising and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, participating in curriculum development, program coordination, collaborating with faculty on research and creative scholarship activities; serving on departmental, school and university committees and other academic functions.

This is a 9-month tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor rank, but a higher rank will be consider for highly qualified candidates.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University's College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences ( CAES) has a rich history of innovation and application of cutting-edge technology. From our pioneering Laboratory Animal Science and Landscape Architecture programs to our award-winning Cooperative Extension and Agricultural Research programs, our faculty and staff serve today's needs while keeping an eye on the future.
With programs and expertise in such areas as biotechnology, agricultural and biosystems engineering, natural resources management, waste management, and food microbiology, the A&T College of Agriculture grows concurrently with the demand for qualified graduates. Our four academic departments are the Department of Agribusiness, Applied Economics and Agriscience Education; the Department of Animal Sciences; the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences; and the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Design. Within these departments, students will find a myriad of opportunities for classroom learning, research and field work.
Through our Agricultural Research Program and our Cooperative Extension Program, we are able to research issues of importance to North Carolina and also provide research-based outreach training to citizens across the state and around the world.
Minimum Requirements
Earned doctorate (at time of appointment)in human nutrition/dietetics, food and nutrition, food science or closely related field from an accredited university; demonstrated ability to teach graduate and undergraduate courses related to nutrition and food science; effective oral and written communication skills; effective interpersonal skills; experience advising and mentoring students; strong technology skills.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Post-doctoral experience; teaching experience at both undergraduate and graduate levels; record of securing internally and/or externally funded grants to support research; registered dietitian; evidence of professional service; and active participation in relevant professional organizations such as the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
