The Opportunity:

The Career Coach is responsible for working with students to achieve targeted graduation and employment outcomes created by the College. The position is responsible for working with students regarding: (1) choosing an appropriate path of academic study, (2) implementing academic and administrative regulations of the College and University, (3) facilitating application of Career Professionalism curricula, (4) facilitating appropriate professional development activities, (5) connecting students to other supporting College and University resources when appropriate, (6) matching appropriate professional and internship vacancies to students in their cohort, and (7) other duties as needed.

Responsibilities:


  • Develop, implement, facilitate, and evaluate various programs focused on assisting in successfully integrating into the University environment. Focuses on students' career development by working with students, alumni, and/or potential employers in both a classroom or one-on-one setting.

  • Act as a liaison with the appropriate College and University department(s) to assist with formulating and implementing policies and procedures related to academic and professional development advising of students.

  • Facilitate student applications of the Career Professionalism Modules by meeting with students, providing direction/resources, and monitoring progress. This includes providing advice/feedback on career research tools: assessments, career plans, resumes, interviewing, networking, job expo activities, and internships.

  • Provide counseling to students, and develop programs and activities to assist students with career development. Facilitate student advisory sessions (30-35) per week and more during peak times. Schedules will include limited evening "drop-in" times as well as occasional weekends and travel to regional campuses.

  • Assist as necessary with employer development activities.

  • May be responsible for assisting with the facilitation of the college Internship courses as needed including, but not limited to, promotion, maintenance, and grading of assignments.

  • Prepare/conduct workshops and presentations on behalf of the College including, but not limited to, Open House, Orientation, Workshops, Major Fairs, and in-classroom presentations.

  • Execute FERPA and University rules/regulations of student privacy when working with students. May facilitate incoming requests from employers for referrals to student organization academic liaisons upholding FERPA.

  • Utilize software such as Workday, PeopleSoft, Salesforce. and MyKnight Star, and may be responsible for degree certification.

  • Participate in regular meetings with Chairs and department faculty to provide information on career and advising sessions.

  • May be responsible for the training and supervision of the student assistant staff.

  • All other duties as assigned within the job scope.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's and 2+ years of relevant experience or Masters degree and 0+ years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:


  • 1 year of full-cycle recruitment experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in career coaching, including resume reviews, LinkedIn reviews, mock interviews, and job search strategies.

  • Proficient in providing one-on-one and group advising sessions, with a focus on career planning and professional development.

  • Experience hosting and delivering engaging presentations and workshops to a wide range of participants.

  • Experience developing and managing initiatives aimed at enhancing career readiness.

  • Familiarity with software such as Workday, PeopleSoft, Salesforce, and MyKnight Star.
