ABOUT THE JOB

The Motion Design & Video Editor will lead video editing and motion design for the MU Health Care and University of Missouri School of Medicine in-house creative agency. Work closely with the Marketing and Communications team, including writers, designers, and creatives on storytelling across many video and content platforms. Assemble raw footage and sound to create unique and exciting stories for our high-profile brand across social content, websites, broadcast video, commercials, and more.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Conceptualize and develop visual content, including graphics, animation, and video footage for a variety of media platforms.

Review and analyze shooting script and raw material to create a shot decision list based on scene value and contribution to continuity.

Evaluate videos from various sources, splice film footage, shoot, and combine with other scenes to create a cohesive story.

Research audio, video, colors, animation, etc., and collaborate with the creative team for graphic design.

Combine visual footage with audio sound effects, dialogue, ambient sound, and a musical soundtrack to create emotion in the story.

Edit video footage and add effects and elements to enhance motion graphics. Evaluate edited footage to ensure it matches the script story and meets the narrative agenda of the creative strategists.

Use computer editing software programs, video switching devices, digital video effects programs, and other tools to assemble film components.

Create sound effects by recording specific audio clips or choose audio effects from a database of sounds to include in the final film.

Discuss the project timeline, narrative structure, story goals, and more with the creative team as the project is edited.

Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry best practices to maximize efficiency.

May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in journalism, film, video production, communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.

Experience in Adobe After Effects or a related software.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
