Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of Clinical Education, Physician Assistant Studies

Position Summary:



The Katz School of Science and Health is seeking a full-time Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of Clinical Education to work in our Physician Assistant Studies program. Responsibilities include working with the PA Program Director in the development and delivery of clinical education to PA students.



Position Responsibilities:



The responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following;



  • Develop and evaluate the Clinical Education curriculum
  • Develop and maintain clinical sites in collaboration with the Clinical Outreach Coordinator
  • Negotiate the clinical schedules with the various clinical sites
  • Initiate and maintain verification and documentation of all clinical site requirements such as Affiliation Agreements, Preceptor Profiles/Practice Profiles, Licensure and Board Certification verification, Criminal Background Checks, immunization records and other site required documentation
  • Initiate and manage the development, implementation and assessment of academic performance evaluations within the clinical phase of education (Clinical Rotation assignments, PACKRAT, End of Rotation Exams, Summative Exam and OSCE examinations)
  • Coordinate and conduct clinical site visits for PA students during clinical rotations site evaluations with preceptors
  • Monitor students' progress during clinical rotations, and End of Rotation Exams, and work with the clinical faculty who evaluate and create remediation work as necessary
  • Ensure compliance with educational and learning objectives during the clinical phase of the program
  • Troubleshoot concerns related to clinical year students and/or clinical sites and preceptors
  • Develop and implement the Call Back Week activities with clinical faculty
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the Summative Evaluation course
  • Participate in program self-assessment and the ARC-PA accreditation maintenance and future site visits
  • Participate in student recruitment and retention
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director



Experience & Educational Background:



Credential Requirements:



  • Physician Assistant - current NCCPA certification with NYS licensure or eligibility
  • BS with a minimum of 10 years clinical experience or Masters with a minimum of 5 years clinical experience


All applicants must have:



  • Current NCCPA certification
  • NYS PA licensure or eligibility


Preferred Qualifications:



  • 5 to 10 years of clinical experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team member with other program and university personnel
  • Previous management and clinical education experience
  • A background that offers a working knowledge of medical terminology and clinic/hospital operations

Salary Range:



$110,000 - $135,000
