Huntsman is seeking a Distribution Technician supporting the Performance Products Division located in Freeport, Texas. This position will report to the Team Lead, Shipping & Logistics.

Job Scope

Through adherence to all established Operational and EH&S policies, procedures, and practices; performs all tasks and training modules necessary to ensure the safe and productive loading and shipping of plant site products.

In summary, as the Distribution Technician, you will:

  • Performs necessary work and tasks in inspecting, loading, and unloading bulk tank wagons and rail cars; and performs necessary work and tasks to unload, fill, and load drums.
  • Maintains current, detailed knowledge and understanding of all shipping equipment, chemicals that are loaded or unloaded, and contents of Shipping Procedures.
  • Maintains and records all inventory changes and performs all necessary work and tasks for the blending of products.
  • Records all loading and other necessary data and input information into the appropriate computer systems.
  • Monitors safe handling, identification, storage, and removal of hazardous waste streams resulting from loading and production activities.
  • Completes compliance and operating checklists and participates in the site's efforts at pollution prevention and continuous improvement.
  • Monitors efforts in the site to ensure compliance with all elements of Process Safety Management and the Huntsman Product Stewardship Initiatives.
  • Clear, lockout and tagout necessary equipment in the distribution area for maintenance.
  • Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed. If applicable, ability to work overtime may be needed to ensure required staffing capacity to meet daily production objectives.
  • Maintain and monitor operating supplies for the distribution area
  • Work collaboratively with team members with different backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Assists other employees in accomplishments of Huntsman company goals. Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
  • Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company.
  • Participates in and completes company-required training programs.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 0-12 months of related work experience.
  • Must have qualified through Huntsman Distribution training verified with demonstration and exam.
  • Must have qualified through Huntsman Distribution training regarding the Department of Transportation rules and regulations for shipping hazardous materials.

Skills and knowledge

  • Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs
  • Ability to correctly add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers and fractions
  • Ability to apply percentages in arithmetic operations
