Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspects food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices.
- Turns and stirs foods to ensure even cooking; regulates temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters, etc.
- Seasons and cooks food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience.
- Weighs, measures, and mixes ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Portions, arranges and garnishes food.
- Bakes, roasts, broils and steams meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
- Assists with processing items delivered from the onsite farm.
- Washes, peels, cuts and seeds fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption.
- Observes and tests foods to determine sufficient cooking, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils.
- Washes pots, pans, dishes, utensils and other equipment.
- Substitutes for or assists other cooks during emergencies or busy periods.
- Assists with the monthly inventory process.
- Assists the Chef with culinary classes.
- Completes daily food production sheets and waste log.
- Monitors the buffet lines to ensure that we do not run out of food before all guests have gone through.
- Assists guests with dietary restrictions by providing them with food that they can eat.
- Assists with catered events.
- Responds to guest issues or complaints in the Dining Room and inform the Chef on duty.
- Must possess excellent customer service skills.
- Performs related duties as assigned
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of a culinary school preferred. A minimum of three years previous cooking experience required. Working knowledge of cooking and food preparation industry standards. Knowledge of various kitchen equipment and utensils.
Qualifications
- Ability to speak and comprehend English fluently; bi/multi-lingual preferred.
- This position is located in Woodstock, IL.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be able to lift a maximum of 50 pounds, bend and stand for extended periods of time.
