KITCHEN LEAD

The Kitchen Lead is a role responsible for, but not limited to, staff supervision and quality control in one of the food service outlets. This individual works directly with the outlet manager to properly delegate, complete, and ensure the quality of production in the kitchen and fills in as the key point of contact in the manager's absence. The Kitchen Lead is also responsible for overseeing the dining service in general and plays a major role in diner satisfaction by addressing concerns or complaints from the diner. The Kitchen Lead is also directly responsible for creating prep lists and orders. The Kitchen Lead supports the mission by upholding quality and safe food services in their outlet and ensuring the staff is performing to departmental and company standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Source high quality ingredients with a focus on local, sustainable, and organic items
  • Plan and create menus with the chef that have an emphasis on seasonal items and creative menu choices
  • Purchase and manage inventory
  • Monitor food quality
  • Maintain safety of physical kitchen and cafe space
  • Cater company events as needed
  • Create a pleasant and fun environment for SpaceX employees to meet and share a meal
  • Build a structure to deliver in-house catering and support company and special events
  • Work with managers to plan services and production
  • Set and enforce standards of kitchen operation
  • Fill in at cooking stations as needed


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 3+ years of sous chef or culinary management experience


PREDERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Degree in culinary arts
  • High volume production and catering experience
  • Proven ability to create innovative menus on a daily basis
  • Ability to perform under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Possess a creative spirit and ability to make the culinary experience part of the SpaceX culture


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position
  • Ability to work all required shift hours, including overtime, and weekends, as needed


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:

Level 3: $25.00/hour + $2.00/hour lead differential

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. ITAR REQUIREMENTS:
