What You'll Do: Champion Safety: Ensure that designs adhere to all applicable safety codes and current best practices. Design plants and facilities to ensure a safe working environment for our employees and comply with all appropriate design and local codes. Design: Independently work, with the support of engineers, to develop and update 2D and 3D drawings for our aggregate operations. The scope of this work spans several disciplines, including site plans, general arrangements, structural steel, and concrete foundations. Our operations include crushed rock, sand mining, dredging, rail and ship terminals, and their associated crushers, screens, conveyors, maintenance facilities, truck scales, and roads. Collaborate: Work closely with project, structural, mechanical, electrical, and environmental engineers to ensure interdisciplinary coordination in the final design effort. Engage with project and construction teams to meet project goals in a cost-effective and timely manner. Document Standards: Develop and update design standards using best practices for use across the division or company. Maintain the department's electronic drawing files. Review: Assess work completed by others (internal or external), as needed, to support colleagues in the engineering department. Check vendor equipment drawings and shop detail drawings as required. Maintain Schedules: Prioritize and complete tasks to meet project schedules, ensuring all drawings are accurate and complete. Skills You'll Need: Education: Technical school training in CAD (Computer-Aided Design) is preferred. Experience: A thorough working knowledge and experience with AutoCAD are essential. Experience with the AISC Steel Construction Manual and aggregate, coal, phosphate, or similar heavy industry in a field or design position is preferred. Technology Skills: Proficiency in producing finished drawings using AutoCAD is a must. You should have the ability to operate large format plotters and scanners or demonstrate the capacity to learn with minimal training. Experience with 3D design tools like Inventor or SolidWorks is preferred. Design Skills: Thorough knowledge of design specifications and practices, building codes, and the equipment used within the company's plants is preferred. Communication Skills: The ability to operate and communicate in a predominantly computer-oriented environment is essential. What You'll Like About Us: Great Company Culture.
