The Opportunity

Adobe Journey Optimizer helps companies deliver connected, contextual, and personalized experiences to their customers. The customer journey is the entire process of a customer's interactions with the brand, from the first moment of contact until the customer leaves. Journey Optimizer allows brands to intelligently determine the next best interaction with scale, speed, and flexibility across the entire customer journey. With Adobe Journey Optimizer, companies can create and deliver both scheduled marketing campaigns (such as weekly promotions for a retail store) and tailored individual communications (like a in-app push notification) within the same application

We are seeking an experienced Backend Developer with a strong background in building distributed systems. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust and scalable backend systems that power our real-time personalization marketing engine. Adobe Journey Optimizer includes an omnichannel orchestration canvas which allows marketers to harmonize marketing outreach with one-to-one customer engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop high-performance, scalable, and reliable backend systems based on Java.
  • Design and implement distributed systems, including data storage, caching, and communication protocols.
  • Collaborate with global cross-functional teams, including front-end developers, data scientists, and product managers, to understand requirements and deliver solutions that meet business objectives.
  • Optimize performance and scalability of backend systems to ensure high availability and fast response times.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues in distributed systems, including debugging and resolving production incidents.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in backend development and distributed systems and apply this knowledge to drive continuous improvement and continuous delivery in our systems and processes.
  • Drive innovation to solve current challenges
  • Key Technology Expertise: Java/MongoDB/Aerospike/Kafka/Rest APIs

Requirements:

  • BS in Computer Science or a related field of study. Masters level degree preferred, or equivalent business experience.
  • 7+ years of experience as a backend developer, with a focus on distributed systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Java
  • Proven experience in working with NoSQL databases
  • Experience with building REST APIs.
  • Knowledgeable of secure, scalable, and highly available service development practices.
  • Proven ability to develop robust, efficient, high-quality code.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Experience with modern development practices in testing, version control, Agile.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).

In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
