Furniture Repair Opportunity with Bernhardt Furniture:
As a Furniture Repair Specialist for Bernhardt, you will be at the heart of our operations, responsible for:
- Assess and Repair: Independently evaluate furniture damages and defects. Determine the best course of action and make necessary repairs to ensure each piece is in pristine condition before delivery.
- Task Management: Prioritize and execute daily, weekly, and monthly repair tasks, ensuring all work is completed efficiently and on time.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate records of work progress, including in-progress, completed, and overdue repairs.
- Problem Solving: Ask questions and seek clarification when necessary to ensure repairs are executed correctly.
- Repair Expertise: Administer appropriate repair methods for various furniture types, including:
- Wood Repairs: Conduct burn-ins, refinishing, joinery, color matching, and wood grain simulation.
- Finishing: Refinish and patch damaged furniture, mixing paints, stains, enamels, or lacquers to match existing finishes.
- Rebuild and Restore: Repair, replace, and rebuild damaged wood, leather, upholstery, or mechanical parts.
- Tool Operation: Skillfully operate tools such as power drills, sanders, saws, and other repair tools.
What We're Looking For:
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in furniture repair and construction.
- Woodworking Skills: Advanced knowledge of wood repair, including color and stain matching, and fixing damages or defects.
- Tool Proficiency: Competence in using both power and hand tools for various repair tasks.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Experience with mechanical repairs, such as resetting doors, hinges, and knobs.
- Upholstery Skills: Familiarity with upholstery repair and working with multiple fabric types is a plus.
- Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to ensuring every item meets our high standards before it reaches the customer.
- Physical Capability: Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. unassisted and move products weighing 150+ lbs. with assistance or via team lift. Must be able to work on the warehouse floor for 8 hours or more.
- Work Ethic: Strong and consistent dedication to quality and time management.
- Communication: Able to read and comprehend English to ensure safety and accuracy in your work.
- Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years old.
