Responsibilities

  • The Dialysis Technician is responsible for providing technical and supportive care to patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment.
  • Under the supervision of registered nurses and nephrologists, ensures that dialysis procedures are performed safely and effectively.
  • Monitors patients during treatment, maintains dialysis equipment, and ensures a clean and sterile environment in the dialysis unit.
  • Sets up and primes dialysis machines according to established protocols before each treatment session.

  • Evaluates vascular access pretreatment and performs vascular access cannulation.

  • Administers medications such as normal saline, heparin, and lidocaine per physicians orders under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse.

  • Monitors vital signs and provides emotional support during treatment.

  • Monitors patients' vital signs, observes for any signs of complications, and adjusts dialysis machine settings as necessary under the direction of healthcare professionals.

  • Performs routine maintenance of dialysis machines, ensures proper functioning of equipment, and promptly reports any malfunctions or issues.

  • Adheres to infection control protocols, maintains a clean and organized dialysis unit, and follows safety procedures to minimize risks to patients and staff.

  • Records accurate and thorough documentation of patient assessments, treatment parameters, and any interventions performed during dialysis sessions.


Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • High School (or GED equivalent) diploma.

  • At least one year of experience in dialysis setting.

  • Certification as a Dialysis Technician- CHT- Certified Hemodialysis Technician.

  • Must have BLS certification within 30 days of hire

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Completion of a dialysis technician training program.
