Job Summary:
With this posting, the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (https://www.engr.wisc.edu/department/civil-environmental-engineering) is searching for a tenure track faculty member with expertise in environmental engineering and AI/ML, as part of the RISE-AI Initiative. We would welcome a spectrum of expertise in areas that address the National Academies-identified Grand Challenges and Opportunities in Environmental Engineering for the Twenty-first Century, including (1) ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all, (2) curbing climate change while also adapting to its impacts, (3) improving air quality, and (4) developing efficient, healthy, and sustainable cities and communities. We particularly welcome expertise that is complementary and synergistic to domestic and international activities that CEE faculty have established. Responsibilities: Applicants are expected to create, advance, and maintain a productive research program, and provide inclusive classroom and individual instruction for our diverse undergraduate and graduate degree-seeking students. In addition, candidates will support department efforts to enhance and advance equity and inclusion in higher education through their teaching, research, and service activities, while contributing to the intellectual and academic life of the department. University and professional service will be expected as appropriate. Additionally, our faculty are expected to participate in interdisciplinary and collaborative efforts with other departments, schools, and colleges. Education: Required Qualifications: Applicants should have a demonstrated academic record of achievement such as peer-reviewed publications and grant awards appropriate for the appointment level, exceptional potential for creative research, and a demonstrated commitment to inclusive undergraduate and graduate education in civil and environmental engineering. Appointment to this tenure track position requires a PhD degree in Engineering or related field be received prior to the start of appointment. Associate and Full professor candidates must possess experience and scholarly credentials that meet the tenure standards of the UW-Madison Divisional Committee and of the College of Engineering.
