Wage: $27 - $31 hourly

Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday

Position Summary:

The Residential Construction Specialist (RCS) will have primary responsibility to oversee construction activities for CCHS New Life Homes (NLH) Mutual Self- Help Housing Program. For the various NLH projects and working with the NLH SF Housing Program Manager, this consists of planning all construction activities for the NLH Program, overseeing the construction crew and work done by subcontractors, managing the schedule for construction and complying with all required local jurisdictional requirements, providing assistance with construction, safety training, and work scheduling for sweaty equity group activities for NLH program participants.

Responsibilities:

Assist with planning all construction activities for the New Life Homes Program



  • Assists with the planning development activities and in particular construction schedules for all phases of construction
  • Assist with the development of housing unit construction plans and specifications


Overseeing the construction build group and overseeing work done by subcontractors



  • Instructs families in successfully completing NHL home construction on time and on budget. This can include performing needed construction tasks
  • Oversee work done by subcontractors in successfully completing NHL construction projects on time and on budget


Manage the schedule for construction and complying with all local jurisdictional requirements



  • Oversees and maintains adherence to the project construction schedule
  • Complies with all required local jurisdiction requirements
  • Insures proper connection of required utilities.


Provide assistance with construction, safety training, and work scheduling for sweat equity group activities required for NLH program participants



  • Provides assistance to the NLH SF Housing Program Manager in providing construction and safety training for NLH sweat equity program participants
  • Assists with supervision of sweat equity work activities.


Perform other duties as assigned



  • Performs other duties as required and related to the above job description
  • Meets with other CCHS staff and the Director in planning and staff meetings as required
  • Participated in an annual evaluation with the CCHS Director and Single Family Housing Program Manager including a 6 month introductory period evaluation


Job Requirements:

The following requirements are those that are normally required for the performance of this position. The position works primarily at residential construction sites and is generally performed outdoors, in a variety of weather conditions, and involves exposure to construction site hazards. Physical Requirements:

This position normally requires the physical demands of standing, walking, bending, lifting or performing other work requiring above average physical exertion, talking, and hearing on a regular basis to perform the job requirement. These physical demands are required up to 90% of the time.

Non-Physical Requirements:

Education



  • High School Diploma


Experience



  • 5 years experience in Construction or Construction Project Management
  • Five years experience in construction trades


Special Skills



  • Knowledge of modern housing construction techniques
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, specifications sheets, and materials associated with residential housing construction
  • Ability to perform take off from plans
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • High level of self-motivation and willingness to work independently
  • Strong written and oral communications skills


Licensure, Registration, Certification



  • Valid Washington State drivers license and required minimum liability insurance for WA State
  • Must be deemed insurable as determined by Catholic Charities' liability insurance provider


Employment is conditional upon:



  • Being cleared by criminal background check and fingerprinting when required
