Summary of Position
Keene State College is seeking applications for a Associate Director, Aspire to manage the daily activities and resources for (2) TRIO Student Support Services (Aspire) grants serving 280 students annually (Classic-160, STEM-120) designed to increase the retention and graduation rates of eligible participants (low income and/or first-generation students, or students with disabilities).

Under the general direction of the TRIO Director, the Associate Director serves as the grants' project director, directly supervises and oversees 5 full-time staff directly supporting the program, ensures project activities are implemented, assists with coordination of peer tutoring and mentoring, and coordinates the Links Summer Bridge Program. The Associate Director collaborates with partners across campus to increase the awareness of TRIO and leverage crucial services that support student success.

Other minimum qualifications
Minimum of a Master's Degree in Education, Counseling, or related field. Proven commitment to the needs of disadvantaged students with a minimum of three years of experience serving this population required. Three years of experience in work related to planning, organizing and coordinating academic support in higher education settings. Proven ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written means. Proven interpersonal, organizational, supervisory and project management skills. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff. Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft 365 and familiarity with database systems, Canvas, student information systems, and Colleague. Available extended hours in the summer, and some nights and weekends.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience as a participant or staff member for a TRIO program preferred. Previous supervisory experience with educational programs. Salary Information

Duty/Responsibility
Provide leadership to and oversee day-to-day operations of the programs and the department:

  • Manage service delivery model to provide optimum services which are responsive to the shifting needs of the student populations (280 eligible students and KSC general population)
  • Coordinate the planning, scheduling, and facilitation of services, activities, and workshops to promote the achievement of project objectives and outcomes as defined in the grant application.
  • Represent TRIO on campus and in the community.
  • Assume departmental leadership responsibility in addressing the needs of students, parents, faculty, and staff proactively and as those needs arise.
  • Collaborate with partners across campus to increase the awareness of TRIO and leverage crucial services that support student success.



Duty/Responsibility
Staff Supervision:

  • Provide training, plan and assign work, maintain standards, coordinate activities, act on personnel issues, and conduct employee evaluations.
  • Coordinate training and supervision of staff.
  • Facilitate staff meetings.
  • In conjunction with Human Resources recruit and select new employees, recommend and approve employee discipline, transfers, and/or discharge as appropriate.
  • Review and approve/deny Kronos Leave Report request.
  • With TRIO Director, determine professional development needs of staff and develop an annual activity calendar, and secure PD as needed.
  • Attend PD conferences and/or trainings to remain current in the field.



Duty/Responsibility
Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure the program complies with the grant, campus, USNH, and federal regulations.
  • Supervise recruitment and selection process for new students enrolled in the grant and certify the eligibility of student participants in accordance with federal TRIO guidelines.
  • Oversee federally mandated recordkeeping, including data documenting student eligibility, participation, and progress toward program objectives.
  • Ensure maintenance and security of central student and program files.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate program policies and procedures.
  • Collect and review Monthly Counselor Reports and Time and Effort verification process.
  • With the TRIO Director, develop formative and summative assessments that continually inform development and improvement of services and interventions; make programmatic adjustments as needed.
  • Oversee the development and submission of program reports including (2) Annual Performance Reports to the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Work collaboratively with IT, financial aid, and institutional research to access and prepare the individual student and aggregate data required for reporting.
  • With the TRIO Director, prepare KSC Annual Report.
  • Provide program information and data in response to USNH, state, and federal audit requests.
  • Assist with grant writing and proposal development.
  • In collaboration with the TRIO director, track budget expenditures.
  • Maintain strong technology skills including Excel, Access, and student information system databases.



Duty/Responsibility
Links Program and other interventions:

  • In collaboration with the TRIO Director, coordinate the Links Summer Bridge program.
  • Develop and maintain the technological infrastructure for student and staff applications, and team resources.
  • Develop Links recruitment materials.
  • Promote program at campus events.
  • Coordinate recruitment, screening, and selection process for new Links students.
  • Collaborate with campus partners including admissions and ODS to properly vet applicants.
  • Coordinate the pre-program phase and provide students and families with timely information.
  • Work with student accounts to properly bill participants and track the payment.
  • Enroll applicants, including course registration, residential placement, and dining plan.
  • Coordinate recruitment, orientation, training, and supervision of Links faculty and student worker staff.
  • Collaborate with faculty to create a high challenge, high support environment for the students and ensure the provision of a case management model to students.
  • Offer academic support, educational counseling, conflict management, and crisis intervention to students.
  • Work with events, residential life, campus safety, and the Title IX offices to ensure compliance with campus policies.
  • Facilitate program components that address learning and social integration.


In addition to the Links Program:

  • Oversee College 102; co-teach course on rotation.
  • Facilitate Aspire credit and non-credit programming, including college 101/102/103, study nights, success lunches, mentoring initiatives.
  • Offer training on assessments and learning strategies such as textbook reading, exam preparation, reading comprehension, memory strategies, time management and organization, notetaking, and stress management.
  • Offer academic support, educational counseling, and crisis intervention to students.
  • Follow the case management model to support the students' retention to the fall semester.
  • Consult and collaborate with campus academic support units.
  • Through targeted services and interventions, build community amongst TRIO students.
  • Maintain KSC web presence, news media, publications, and annual communication plan, including social media.



Duty/Responsibility
Individual Programming, Advising Curriculum, Caseload, Tutoring:

  • Manage the process of conducting needs assessments of individual students.
  • Develop a framework for and oversee staff implementation of services, programs, and advising including individual course selection, financial literacy, financial aid, study skills, time management, career and graduate school exploration services, monthly workshops, self-advocacy, and personal counseling.
  • Serve a caseload of students, providing academic counseling, advising and individualized course selection based on students': strengths, learning styles, the academic record of accomplishment specific to content, preferred teaching styles, major requirements, financial literacy, and career plans.
  • Conduct needs assessment of individual students and develop academic plans.
  • Collaborate with TRIO Director to manage Aspire Tutor Program, ensuring tutoring interventions demonstrate proven effectiveness such that they provide optimum service that is responsive to the shifting needs of the student population.
