Your Role with Us:

Salem Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Total Joints team in our Orthopedics clinic. The Orthopedic Surgery Advanced Practice Provider is responsible for providing medical care as stated in their Collaboration Agreement. This position will work with the healthcare team to ensure the highest quality of care for patients. The Advanced Practice Provider is responsible for providing medical and surgical services that are within their scope of practice, based on the provider's education, training, experience, and competence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works as a member of a multi-disciplinary health care team, collaborating with other members of the team to provide care to patients suffering from problems of central, peripheral and autonomous nervous system.
  • Demonstrates advanced competencies and skills in assessing the physical and psychosocial status of patients and family members, plays an active role in a multi-disciplinary health care team, promotes preventive health measures, manages the acute and chronic conditions of your assigned panel of patients and those patients assigned to other team members when circumstances require it.
  • Participates in the development of clinical protocols in collaboration with other clinicians.
  • Participates in the improvement of clinic processes in association with the clinic management team and staff.
  • Positively engages as an active provider team member to provide education to medical students as needed.
  • Positively engages with the Medical Director to determine the best hours of operation that facilitate an appropriate balance between work life and home. This may include a variety of options for ensure patient coverage while maintaining positive provider engagement in the operation of the clinic.
  • May participate in Lean activities to further building the effectiveness and efficiency of the clinic.

Background/Expertise:

  • Current PA/NP license in good standing issued by the Oregon Medical Board (OMB).
  • Hold DEA certification.
  • Maintenance of American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Successful completion of the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination
  • One (1) year of experience as a surgical NP or PA preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience in orthopedic surgery practice preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience in Orthopedics Total Joints preferred.
