Job Summary:

This position provides Substance Use Disorder Evaluations for Denver Department of Human Services (DDHS) clients, and makes recommendations for any required substance abuse treatment, referrals for care, and identifies the level of care needed. This position is co-located, meaning work will be performed onsite at two physical locations: Denver Department of Human Services (DDHS), 1200 Federal Boulevard, Denver, Colorado 80204, as well as the ARTS Parkside Clinic, 1620 Gaylord Street, Denver, Colorado 80206. Parking permit payment is required at DDHS but not at the ARTS Parkside Clinic, and other work equipment such as computer equipment, internet connection and phone service are provided. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Substance Use Disorder assessments, recommend appropriate interventions, consult with DDHS Case Workers, and enter data into the TRAILS system.
- Communicate between ARTS, Denver Department of Human Services (DDHS), and Signal Behavioral Health Network with professionalism and expertise, maintaining positive interpersonal relationships.
- Attend on a consistent basis ARTS team/staff meetings, trainings, and other events as needed.
- Possess and utilize strong knowledge of diagnostic impressions, according to the DSM-5, as well as ASAM placement criteria.
- Work closely with DDHS as a part of an intervention team serving individuals involved with the social services system.
- Provide substance use disorder training and consultation for Denver Human Services staff.
- Provide referrals to patients for necessary, appropriate resources.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite with split time between and office in Aurora, Colorado and Denver, Colorado.

Qualifications:
|
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, counseling, social work, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- One (1) year of professional level experience working in a substance use disorder treatment clinic/facility, which included medication-assisted treatment.
A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with social service populations.
- Experience working with clients who are involved with the criminal justice system, probation/parole, human services, and/or other similar referral sources.
- Experience providing administrative support to clients, families, staff, and other stakeholders in a substance abuse treatment setting.
- Experience managing financial paperwork including creating invoices, tracking expenditures, and gathering statistical data.
- Experience working with electronic health records.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Knowledge of basic care coordination, medical/hospital, and/or community resources.
- critical thinking.
- Knowledge of motivational interviewing techniques.
- Knowledge of basic therapeutic confrontation and structures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of substance use disorders.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize the DSM-5 and ASAM to provide accurate diagnosis and treatment recommendations.
- Ability to manage difficult behaviors and engage successfully with substance-dependent clients in treatment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work with diverse patient populations and be nonjudgmental and respectful of other's beliefs, values, and culture.
- Ability to comply with established rules, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to effectively and efficiently manage a diverse workload in a fast-paced, rapidly changing regulatory environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, etc.).
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
- Ability to establish boundaries with clients and exercise discretion (e.g. patient confidentiality).
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be certified as a Certified Addictions Specialist (CAS). Individuals who are not CAS certified must obtain a CAS certification (or higher licensure such as a LAC) within one year of hire date.
- Must agree to, and pass, background, professional reference, motor vehicle records, and fingerprint checks through the University of Colorado, and the Colorado Department of Corrections.
- Must possess and maintain a current, valid State of Colorado Driver's license at time of hire.

Anticipated Pay Range:
|
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $61,546 - $78,287. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck.
