RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

The supervisor or group leader will train and observe the employee in each of the following duties until such time the employee demonstrates competent skill level.

1. When operating Screw Machines ensure that there is adequate material and becomes competent in loading bar material into the feeding mechanism and adjusts the specified guide bushing as necessary.

2. The employee is required to read and understand blueprints for dimensions, tolerances and other product specifications needed for inspection and machining operations on all machines.

3. The employee is required to read and understand the job order, router and program for product specifications such as part number, dimensions, tolerances, number of parts to be machined and tooling instructions such as cutting tools to be used and the expected tool change frequency for all machines.

4. Position and secure tools in the proper toolholders for all machines.

5. For Screw Machines, perform the cut-off cycle and re-home the machine after tool changes, stock changes or other operations requiring manual movement of the turret. For other equipment, be able to start the machine cycle and run a production batch.

6. Makes a required tool offset within established procedural guidelines for all machines.

7. Replace worn tools such as drills, spotters, end mills, electrodes and broken wires.

8. Performs secondary bench operations (deburring, finishing) as specified on the router operation for all machines.

9. The employee will need to clean out the machine when a change over to another metal is required for all machines.

10. The employee is expected to become competent in working with small parts that require the use of a microscope to detect specific items and conformance to specifications.

11. The CNC Machine Technician I will become competent in visual inspection and provide accurate counts on production quantities.

12. To perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Group Leader.

13. The CNC Machine Technician I will be expected to know how to load fixtures and change wire sizes for the Wire and RAM EDM's, and also have the knowledge to load fixtures for the Milling Machine.

14. The Machine Technician I is required to read BOM's, pre-set tools, material and pin gauges as required.


15. Support set-ups in a way that allows Technicians II and III to complete higher level tasks. Complete paperwork, Inspect collets, ensure material is ready, strip machine and clean workplace, line clear, load programs, etc. The intent is to focus appropriate skillsets to tasks.
