Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership to less experienced employees.
- Act as a first point of contact for Machining Associate, Operators, and Level l Machinists as a Section Leader
- Train Machining Associates/Operators in metrology
- Sketching and fabricating fixtures
- Develop or assist in the development of new set-ups and programs for new products or process changes including the initiation and completion of process verifications.
- Sharpen cutting tools such as broaches, drills, and end mills. Performs preventive maintenance on machinery.
- Set up and operate multi-axis CNC and/or manual equipment, tools and accessories for the fabrication and cutting of materials to process component parts.
- Maintain close tolerance dimensions while producing parts at the rates established for a particular operation.
- Identify and participate in resolving machining problems in order to produce defect free parts.
- Performs verification/validation of new set-up programs for new product or pre-production parts.
- Performs in-process and first article inspections at the primary metrology skill level.
- Understands/edits multi axis G-code/M-code mill programs, multi axis G-code lathe programs and up to multi axis Mazatrol lathe programs as required.
Work experience requirements: A minimum of 10 years' work experience on a variety of CNC equipment in a machining environment. Knowledge requirements: Troubleshooting of multi-axis CNC equipment. Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the use of cutting tools and their use to produce defect free parts. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, demonstrate the ability to read blueprints and interpret geometric tolerances.Must be able to demonstrate metrology skills. Able to produce parts at the optimum rates with zero defects. Must demonstrate the ability to operate equipment without causing injury to oneself or damage to equipment, or product.
