We are seeking an Outreach Specialist to join our team in our Philadelphia, PA location. This role is 90% community-based at different SEPTA stations across the system.
This posting is for full-time, first shift Monday - Friday 5:00am - 1:00pm.
Earn $22.41/hr.!
The Outreach Specialist works as part of a team working at specific SEPTA stations across the system. This role is the first point of contact for individuals and should provide information, guidance, and other support as individuals navigate the behavioral health services in the city of Philadelphia.
Position Details
* Influences clients in the community as a part of the outreach team.
* Always maintain situational awareness and use de-escalation strategies to maintain a calm and welcoming environment, conducting individual interventions as needed.
* Assists individuals with building social skills in the community that will enhance quality of life.
* Assists individuals in developing empowerment skills through education and self-advocacy.
* Offers a non-judgmental forum for listening and providing empathy for the struggles of individuals.
* Uses personal experiences to develop meaningful and trusting relationships with participants, acting as a mentor to help participants actively create the lifestyle they desire through exploration and discussion of their goals.
* Actively reaches out to particularly vulnerable individuals who come in for hospitality services but are hesitant to engage in additional resources offered, collaborating with fellow staff throughout the process.
* Informs consumers about community and natural supports and how to utilize these in the recovery process.
* Ability to educate and encourage resistant PIRs to participate in treatment options.
* Makes placement for homeless individuals including shelters, cafes, safe havens or treatment options.
* Keeps updated files and documentation regarding engagements and referrals.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
* High School diploma or general education degree (GED) with at least two years behavioral health experience and experience working with the homeless or those with substance use disorders.
* Must possess computer skills to perform job duties including but not limited to desktop computing, email, time sheet management, and electronic health records, using Microsoft Office and Google Applications, and other relevant software.
* Ability to enter data on a mobile handheld device while in the field.
* Must have knowledge and an understanding of recovery principles and recovery driven service system.
* Ability to establish professional relationships with peers.
* Knowledge and experience working within Philadelphia forensic system and Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) preferred.
* Peer Specialist Certification Preferred.
