This position is located at the Westinghouse facility in Chattanooga, TN. No relocation assistance will be provided for this opportunity. We are able to entertain all candidates authorized to work without sponsorship now and in the future as we are unable to sponsor Visa's for this opportunity.

Your Day-to-Day:



  • Work closely with materials engineers across the company to gain an understanding of materials-related concerns in the nuclear industry, with a specific focus on primary components (e.g., reactor vessel internals, steam generators, reactor vessel, containment vessel).
  • Author specifications documenting material requirements for new plants and components. Support component manufacturing in addressing non-conformances.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects requiring knowledge of material degradation and effects for various nuclear plant components including corrosion, stress corrosion cracking (SCC), irradiation-assisted SCC (IASCC), irradiation embrittlement, and fatigue.
  • Develop inspection acceptance criteria for nuclear power plant components. Examples include acceptable bolting patterns and flaw acceptance criteria for components impacted by material degradation mechanisms.
  • Evaluate degradation observed in plant components to permit continued operation.
  • Support larger generic projects that are developing the industry guidance and requirements for safe long-term operation of nuclear power plant reactor vessel internals components.



Who You Are:

As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:



  • BS materials or mechanical engineering
  • 0-3 years of experience (new grads welcomed!)
  • Interested in the nuclear industry, ASME Section III components,or similar industry (energy, etc.)
  • Familiar w/ materials requirements
